TOLLY
NASON BA hons
Photographer and Glass Artist
I graduated with a degree in Textile Design from
Winchester School of Art in 1999 where I specialised in Print and Weave. I
won first place in the prestigious Amoco Award whilst on exchange at Rhode
Island School of Design and also an Award for Innovation in Textiles from
Georgina Von-Etztdorf upon graduating.
After extensive travel and work in interior design, I
launched ‘Tolly’s Ark’ and now work largely by commission. Recently I was
commissioned to travel throughout Europe taking photographs for very
large-scale reproductions to adorn the walls of a London-based Law firm. I
am currently working on a residential commission for more large-scale
photographic art principally based on specific tree species but I have also
accepted work in oils, illustration, glass and weaving.
I often use the juxtaposition of B&W and Colour to
enhance the viewer’s appreciation of single elements and have been exploring
the notion that photo’s can be viewed as physical objects, hence my ‘corner
photography’ and the use of different surfaces and inclusions.
My glasswork is based around the qualities of glass
that I appreciate the most – its vulnerability but also its solidity. The
combination of glass and weave has been a challenge of mine since college
and I thoroughly enjoy breaking boundaries between disciplines. |
